The charming and cosy Glencoe Self Catering Chalets are nestled amongst indigenous trees and riverine vegetation at the foot of the Kouga mountains in the scenic Grootrivier Poort - the entrance to the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area near Patensie in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
It is a malaria free area and ideally suited for people wanting to get away to a quiet and peaceful setting whilst staying in a comfortable self catering Chalet.
It is approximately 9,5 kilometres from the end of the tar road when travelling towards the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area from Patensie and therefore easily accessible by a normal sedan car. It is also just 2.5 kilometres from the popular Bruintjieskraal picnic and camping site.
The modern self catering chalets are fully equipped for self catering and can sleep 2 (Duiker), 8 (Ribbok), 10 (Kudu) and 12 (Eland) people respectively.

Glencoe Self Catering Chalets consists of four fully equipped thatched roof chalets called Eland, Kudu, Duiker, and Ribbok and Duiker. They are carefully positioned to ensure the privacy of guests. The Chalets can sleep 12 (Eland), 10 (Kudu), 8 (Ribbok) and 2 (Duiker) persons respectively.

Do I need a 4x4 vehicle to reach Bruintjieskraal & Glencoe chalets?

No. Bruintjieskraal & Glencoe are easily accessible with a normal vehicle and are situated approximately 9.5 km from the end of the tar road near Patensie. A 4×4 may, however, be required if you plan to travel further through certain parts of the Baviaanskloof.

No. There are no electricity points at the campsites. Each campsite does, however, have its own private bathroom facilities with a toilet, basin and shower, with gas geysers providing hot water.

Yes. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking. The balance can be paid by EFT before arrival or in cash on arrival. Please note that we do not have card facilities on the premises.

Yes. Wood and ice are available to purchase at reception, so you don’t need to bring your entire supply with you.

Our self-catering chalets are equipped with linen and a fully equipped kitchen, including a fridge/freezer, two-plate stove/oven combination, microwave, kettle, pots, pans, cutlery and crockery. Guests should please bring their own towels, drinking water and toilet paper. A starter roll or two of toilet paper is provided.

The chalets operate on solar power, so high-consumption appliances such as air conditioners and heaters may not be used. We recommend bringing a fan in summer and extra blankets in winter if needed.

Yes, we are pet-friendly, subject to prior approval. Pets must be well-mannered and socialised and must remain under their owner’s control or on a leash. Pets may not chase livestock, wildlife or other guests and are not permitted on furniture or beds. Please contact us before your stay for our full pet rules and conditions.

Bruintjieskraal is situated in a natural wilderness environment, so guests may encounter wildlife and should treat this as part of the Baviaanskloof experience. Please do not feed wild animals, and avoid leaving food or refuse unattended. We recommend keeping food securely stored and following any instructions provided by management during your stay.
